What it can analyse

Individual messages

Drag and drop one or more .eml files directly into the interface.

Entire folders

Select a folder and, when needed, enable recursive scanning of its subfolders.

Mixed folders

PDF, DOCX, XLSX, TXT and other files are quietly ignored: only EML files are analysed.

Technical indicators

SPF, DKIM, DMARC, SCL and other checks, with optional DNS/MX lookup.

Italian and English

The interface and reports are available in both languages.

Local reports

Detailed reports for each message and a final summary in summary.txt.

Where reports are stored

The Reports folder is created automatically next to PigeonCheck.exe. It contains the individual reports and summary.txt, and can be opened directly from the dedicated GUI button.

Operational classification

Indicators are correlated into a score and one of the following four classifications.

CodeMeaning
NO_STRONG_ANOMALIESNo significant anomalies were detected by the checks.
SUSPICIOUSSome elements require further investigation.
HIGH_RISKCorrelated indicators suggest a high risk.
INCONCLUSIVEThe available evidence does not support a useful assessment.
“No significant anomalies” does not mean “certainly safe”. Pigeon Check is a technical review tool: it is not an antivirus or sandbox and does not certify that a message is legitimate.

Local-first and privacy

Analysis runs locally. Messages may contain personal or business information and are not sent automatically to public third-party services.
